Max HP is your health bar, it is the amount of damage you can take before dying. Most characters starts with 10 Max HP by Default, and gain +1 Max HP when leveling up.
 
Having a good amount of Max HP prevents you from dying to just a few strong hits from [[enemies]], making it an essential on most builds. However to survive the 60 seconds of a wave, it is usually a good idea to also get some [[Healing]].
