Scaling

Melee Damage.png = the damage scales with Melee Damage stat
Ranged Damage.png = the damage scales with Ranged Damage stat
Elemental Damage.png = the damage scales with Elemental Damage stat
Armor.png = the damage scales with Armor stat
Engineering Stat.png = the damage scales with Engineering stat
Range.png = the damage scales with Range stat

If a weapon has 80%Melee Damage.png, that means every Melee Damage stat, gives extra 0.8 more damage to that weapon. Thus if the player had 10 Melee Damage stat, that means that weapon would hit 8 more damage.
If a weapon has 50%Melee Damage.png, and player had 10 Melee Damage stat, that means that weapon would hit 5 more damage.

Lets look at Tier 4 Chopper:

  • 30(80%Melee Damage.png) means that the weapon has 30 damage, with 80% Melee Damage stat scaling.
    • If Melee Damage is 0, damage output is 30+(0*0.8)=30+0=30.
    • If Melee Damage is 30, damage output is 30+(30*0.8)=30+24=54.

Melee Weapons

Melee attack speeds are not 100% accurate as another similar formula is used to calculate them.

  • DPS calculation do not take special effects and crits into account

I have added more explanations to "Scaling". In short, if you have 10 elemental damage stat with 50% elemental damage weapon, that weapon would hit for 5 more damage.

The shotgun and taser shooting multiple projectiles per shot should be reflected in the damage and DPS sections, or at the very least mention that in the special effects section of the weapons. This chart makes them appear much weaker than they actually are. Piercing information is also missing for some weapons.

Information about extra effects when you have the same weapon multiple times would also be nice. For example that multiple sticks also give you more health, that multiple ghost flints give you negative armor or that multiple wrenches give you extra engineering.

It's a gimmick for high-HP 'tatos. Do note that it has insane pushback and good attack speed (not as good as SMG, but close). For a 'tato that is focused on survival (high HP), that seems like a good deal.

Can anyone tell me how much impact the stat damage has on weapons? I'm not quite clear on the difference between damage and ranged damage / melee damage. When I go to melee or ranged, can I ignore the normal damage or does damage strengthen / weaken in general? It's a bit confusing and nowhere exactly described how it works, except that it affects the two items baby elephant and cyberball.

Each weapon has stat scaling. For example, Tier 1 SMG has 50% Ranged damage scaling (the purple bow icon means "Ranged damage") and 3 base damage. Which means that it inflicts 3 + RANGED_DAMAGE * 0.50 damage. Then that damage is multiplied by the percentage of the Damage stat, i.e. you get (3 + RANGED_DAMAGE * 0.50) * (1 + 0.01 * DAMAGE). Ranged damage is added directly (might be some scaling) to the damage, while total damage is used as a multiplier. Generally, Ranged damage stat has more impact on weak weapons (for SMG, 3 + 1 = 4 - that's up by a third! And you only need +2 Ranged damage for that to happen!), while generic Damage multiplier has more impact on powerful weapons: Hammer has 100 base damage and scales at 100% with Melee damage (beige sword means "Melee damage"), meaning that it inflicts (100 + MELEE_DAMAGE * 1.0) * (1 + 0.01 * DAMAGE), so rising Melee damage won't matter much, but rising Damage will (more precisely, the impact is the same, but Damage is easier to rise). Generally, you need to improve both, because they work great in tandem - Melee Damage increases base damage, and then Damage multiplies that further. Both are impactful, but for some weapons one will be more useful (especially early on) than the other. Also, some weapons have WEIRD scaling, such as Potato Launcher scaling with Max HP, and Crossbow scaling with Range. And Flamer has almost no scaling and almost no damage (it inflicts damage over time, it's a separate mechanic).

The revolver's entry is incorrect for two different reasons


1. The 6th shot is faster on higher rarities of the weapon. Grey = 3.47, Blue = 3.33, Purple = 3.2, Red = 3.07


2. The DPS for the weapon is also incorrectly calculated due to the 6th shot.
