Attack Speed

Attack Speed

You attack x% faster with weapons. Getting 100% attack speed for example means you attack double as fast.

The game uses several hidden stats to calculate the attack speed, which means that attack speed doesn't always work as you would expect. Here are the exceptions:

Melee weapons' attack speed is affected by their Range. You can read about the effects on the range page.

Negative Attack speed increases the cooldown of your weapons, meaning you attack slower. However it uses a different Formular. It only reduces one of the hidden stats, called "Weapon speed". For example -100% attack speed means you attack around 30% to 50% slower, not 100%. It depends highly on the weapon and ranged weapons are generally affected harder by negative attack speed compared to melee weapons. This is because melee weapons's attack speed also depends on your range. So the Weapon speed plays a smaller part.

This weapon speed has a hard limit. Going too far past this limit results in severe diminishing returns. Fast melee weapons like Fist and Circular Saw tier 3+ reach this amount after about 200%. While fast ranged weapons like SMG tier 4, Flamethrower tier 4, Protato Thrower tier 4, Minigun 3. Minigun 4 already has diminishing returns from 0% attack speed.


Attack speed doesn't apply to turrets, or effects like Cyber Ball, Baby with a Beard, or Rip and Tear Also applies to Ranged Weapons but not engineering turrets or mines. There is no limit to this. If this is negative you attack x% slower.
