The Pacifist starts with a large negative to [[Damage]] and [[Engineering]], preventing them from dealing damage to enemies.
Not killing enemies is normally a big problem, since it means you don't get [[Materials]]. That isn't a problem for the Pacifist. You get an amount of XP and Gold equal to 65% of the enemies on the screen, and 65% of the enemies that despawned during the wave. There is a limit of 100 enemies that can be on the screen at once. If more spawns, a random enemy is despawned without dropping loot. Pacifist is the exception when it comes to being rewarded for these. The limit excludes Elites, Bosses, and Trees.
However, the Pacifist only gains 1 [[Materials|Material]] for each enemy, even though that enemy might have dropped several materials upon death. But on the other hand, once you reach wave 5+ enemies' drop chance for materials begin to decrease. See the [[Materials]] Page.
