Knockback
Knockback is a Secondary stat that applies to projectiles and melee weapons. It pushes enemies away from you with the distance being increased by the value of your knockback stat.
Knockback always knocks enemies directly away from the character, no matter the diretion of the projectile / melee weapon that hit the enemy.
- Some enemies are resistant to being knocked back, you can see the page for the exact numbers for each enemy.
- Elites and Bosses are immune to being knocked back.
- Despite Knockback items having knockback as an item tag, there's no characters tagged for knockback.
What Applies Knockback
Both Melee and Ranged weapons causes knockback on hit, if the weapon has knockback, or if you have increased your knockback stat.
Spawned projectiles from Cacti Club , Sniper Gun, and other spawned projectiles causes knockback. Similarly, projectiles from Alien Eyes and Baby with a Beard also cause knockback.
Explosions don't cause knockback. Even the main projectile/weapon hit will lose its ability to cause knockback if the weapon causes explosions. For weapons with a chance to explode, they will still knockback on hits that didn't trigger an explosion.
Piercing hits will cause knockback. But once a weapon bounces, it loses the ability to knockback.
Structures apply knockback. But note that explosions still don't cause knockback even if done by a structure. Note that no matter the position of a turret, it will knock enemies away from your character, not the position of the turret.

Weapons
While many weapons have knockback, the Hammer is special. Not only does it have the highest base knockback in the game, it also grants additional knockback stat, which will boost the knockback of all of your weapons. The Harpoon gun is also quite special. It has negative knockback, meaning that higher knockback pulls enemies closer to you. It also has the ability to ignore enemy knockback resistance.

Update History
- 1.1.0.0: Knockback now always knocks enemies away from the character. Before it would depend on the direction of the projectile/melee weapon. This was a highly requested change, as the earlier knockback had a tendency to sometimes knock enemies towards you if enemies were hit by the end of a swing from a melee weapon, or on the backswing. It also fixed a bug where
- 1.1.0.0: Knockback was expanded as a mechanic. Many items got added knockback onto them as an upside or downside. Also Coil was added as a payoff for knockback.
