Explosion
Explosions are effects that can happen when you hit enemies with an Explosive weapon, or caused by an Item or Character ability. When an explosion happen, all enemies within its radius take damage, allowing explosions to deal with large groups of enemies coming for you.
Explosions caused by weapons always deal damage equal to being hit normally by the weapon. If an enemy is hit by a weapon, and it causes an explosion, the enemy won't take the damage from its own explosion. So an enemy hit by a Rocket Launcher won't also be hit by the explosion caused by the rocket launcher.
- Explosions benefit from the Explosion Damage and Explosion Size secondary stats. Explosion Damage works like regular Damage, but is only applied to weapons with the Explosive Tags and Explosions.
- Explosions do not Life Steal. So if you fire a Nuclear Launcher, only the target hit by the projectile can proc life steal.
- Explosions caused by weapons can trigger Scared Sausage and can also Critical Hit. However explosions caused by other effects such as Landmines can't.
- Explosive Ranged Weapons can cause an explosion with each bouncing and piercing hit.
Explosion Sizes
Different weapons/items/character effects have different sized explosions. Which you can see on the following list. The "Explosion Size" stat scales multiplicatively with the base size, meaning that if you pick up +100% explosion size (4 plastic explosives), it would increase the size of a Plank's explosion from 75% to 150%, a Rocket Launcher's explosion from 100% to 200%, and a Nuclear Launcher 3's explosion from 200% to 400%.
Note that Wrench spawns Explosive Turret at Tier 4. And Screwdriver spawns Landmines
