The moment Fish Hook manages to curse an item, it removes the pity bonus. In that case, the pity bonus is instantly lost, and the last 3 locked items don't benefit from the locked items. Note it is random which item gets cursed first.

Item

Fish Hook is an in-game item that can be bought from a Shop or can be found in a Crate. Most Items modify the Stats of the player, and some of them provide additional effects.

Notes

Fish Hook causes Locked items and weapons in the Shop to have +20% chance to be cursed when entering the shop. Multiple Fish hooks stack additively, so 2 regular Fish Hooks means 40% chance of Cursing each wave.

  • Cursed Fish Hook can have up to 42% chance to curse locked items in the shop. So it is possible to reach 100% chance to curse after locking in the Shop. This is quite useful for Endless Mode.

Pity System

The Fish Hook has a pity system which increases the odds of success whenever you enter a shop and fail to curse any locked items.

When you enter a shop after failing to curse any locked item, you gain a 25% bonus to your curse chance per item you had locked. So if you had 40% chance to curse, you'll get a 10% Pity Bonus per locked item you had. If 1 or more of the locked items got cursed, you get no pity bonus.

The moment Fish Hook manages to curse an item, it removes the pity bonus. So if you have 4 locked items and a large pity bonus, it is likely that the first item it attempts to curse actually gets cursed. In that case, the pity bonus is instantly lost, and the last 3 locked items don't benefit from the locked items. Note it is random which item gets cursed first.

  • Finding an "organically" Cursed item in the shop doesn't reset the pity bonus. It is only reset if an item is cursed by the Fish Hook effect.
  • If you have a large pity bonus, consider being slightly more picky about which items you lock.
  • You can see the current Pity Bonus in the tooltip of a Fish Hook.
  • The pity bonus is rounded down. So if the calculated bonus would be 9.5, it gets rounded down to 9.
