==Starting Weapons==&lt;br /&gt;
Mage has a selection from lower tier [[Elemental]] weapons and two guns. Wand and Torch inflict powerful [[burn]] on hit, while Taser and lightning shiv can create multiple projectiles that scale with elemental damage.  &lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
It is worth noting that any weapon that only scales with either Melee Damage or Ranged Damage can&#039;t be increased past their base damage. This includes SMG, and Double Barrel Shotgun. However the fast attack speed of the SMG and the piercing/multiple projectiles of the Double Barrel Shotgun can be used to spread burn with [[Scared Sausage]]. The projectiles of the Taser and the melee attack part of the lightning shiv can also spread fire in this way. (The projectiles created by the lightning shiv can inflict burn. This used to not be the case, but was changed in patch 1.0.1.3.). &lt;br /&gt;

The 2nd, 3rd, 4th Scared Sausage also increases the damage done by the burn it inflicts by +1, but this isn&#039;t shown in the tooltip.&lt;br /&gt;

Your attacks deal x% more damage but doesn&#039;t affect engineering turrets or mines. There is no limit. If you have negative damage it can reduce the damage you deal down to the minimum of 1 damage per hit.&lt;br /&gt;
For example if you have -60% damage, your attacks will only deal 40% damage.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
% Damage and % explosive damage stacks additively. So if you have a [[Dynamite]] and +30% damage, your explosive weapons will deal +45% damage in total.&lt;br /&gt;
&lt;br /&gt;
This stat also affects items that deal damage, such as the [[Baby Elephant]] or the [[Cyberball]] -- such items have a base damage as a percentage of another stat, but then are modified by this damage stat.&lt;br /&gt;
